​I'm a chef turned baker and creator behind jammyrogersbakery.
​
I always had a love for baking starting from a young age from spending time cooking with my great aunt Babs. She had the patience of a saint with me, I would arrive up any time, day or night, and she’d stop what she was doing and start showing me how to make different cakes or tarts.
I studied culinary arts in DIT, and I worked full time in a number of restaurants in Dublin while studying. While the course was great I really struggled with the book work side of things so after 3 years I decided to graduate early and take my level 7.
Over the years I spent time working in numerous cities:
- few months in New York working in one of the region’s most high profile golf clubs.
- a number of months on work experience with one of London’ most high profile cake designers.
- a year in Toronto cooking in one of the city’s finest French restaurants.
In 2017 I entered the Eurotoques young chef of the year competition and made it to the final, unfortunately I didn’t win but it was an amazing experience.
